US  Department of Homeland Security

Updates Passport Requirements Guide

For Visa Waiver Program Travelers

The US Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) US-VISIT program updated its popular "Visa Waiver Program Passport Requirement Traveler Guide" that clarifies important changes in passport and e-Passport requirements for visitors traveling to the United States as part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). DHS created the guide in response to requests from the travel and tourism industry for a consumer-friendly document to help explain the upcoming October 26, 2006, deadline regarding e-Passports.

There are 27 countries that participate in the VWP – a program that allows travel to the United States for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa.
