Shore Excursions
To enhance your cruise experience cruise lines will offer you carefully planned and developed shore excursions. These tours provide you with places, highlights and local information on the ports of call during your cruise. Most cruise lines will operate shore excursions in groups of approximately 40 individuals and will use bus transportation, in order to keep costs of the excursion as reasonable as possible. One should be aware that shore excursions will normally only provide you with superficial general knowledge as the guides will not have the time nor the knowledge to provide you with a detailed in-depth history. Most of the shore excursions are available for purchase onboard up to 24 to 48 hours (depending on the cruise line) prior to arrival in a port. Throughout your cruise there will be informative briefing presentations prior to arrival in a port on the various shore excursions and the cost of what they are offering. A number of cruise lines will send you detailed information about the shore excursions in your pre cruise information and/or final documentation, along with making the information available via their website. A number of cruise lines will pre-sell selected shore excursions 30 days prior to departure. The ship’s daily program will usually include shore excursion information, shopping advice, and other practical advice on a port of call. If you decide to cancel your shore excursion, most cruise ships will require a minimum of 24 hours notice before the planned shore excursion begins. If you miss the departure of your shore excursion the cruise line will not refund you. Refunds are at the sole discretion of the cruise line.
