Shipboard Attire
Today cruise lines offer a wide range of clothing options from casual to country club casual to 2 or 3 formal nights in a 7 to 10 day cruise. Many cruise passengers enjoy the contrast between the occasional formal evenings and the more informal ambience, which prevails on other evenings. Comfort and relaxation are the by-words for daytime attire; cottons and permanent press fabrics are cool, casual and practical. Bathing suits for swimming and sunbathing will be needed on deck and around the pool. On cruises to Asia, Caribbean, Mediterranean, East Africa and South America, South Pacific, the weather is usually warm. Light and loose fitting garments are better and more comfortable to wear. Occasional squalls and cool evening may come up, so be prepared. On Cruises to Alaska, Canada and Northern Europe, there will be days and nights that are interrupted by cooler weather. A light raincoat and a light topcoat are advised for the men, sweater and a raincoat for the women. Because weather is difficult to predict, in cooler climates dressing in layers is the best approach. Be sure to pack a pair of comfortable walking shoes. What does this all-mean, well it depends on you, some people love to get dressed up for formal nights, Tux for Guys, Gowns for Gals and then other people just enjoy being in casual clothes all the time, there is a cruise out there that to meet your individual requirements. Even if a cruise line states that it is casual, dinner in the ships restaurants will prefer men to have a jacket or blazer with no tie. Most cruise lines will not allow jeans, T-shirts, shorts, cut-offs, tank tops, bare feet, etc. in any of the restaurants for dinner. Every cruise line has a different policy and you need to be sure that you are comfortable with their policy before you commit to a particular cruise. Daytime Casual attire
