Fire Breaks Out Aboard The Calypso

Fire broke out in the starboard engine aboard the Calypso early Saturday morning, while enroute to St Peter Port in Guernsey in the English Channel. The blaze was fully extinguished shortly after 06:00 hrs on Saturday morning.

There were no casualties and no evacuation was necessary for 708 people (462 passengers & 246 Crew) onboard the Cyprus registered ship, which is owned by Louis Cruise Lines.

The Calypso will be towed to Southampton where the damage can be assessed and passengers can disembark.
