Getting Married Aboard Ship

Imagine the two of you dancing under a canopy of stars as you sail into the evening after your wedding ceremony aboard. Your dreams are to get married onboard a ship, but wonder how to accomplish it. We have tried to help you demystify your dreams and hopefully provide you with some information and helpful tips that you require in order to make your dreams come true.

Getting married aboard a cruise ship would seem a relatively simple matter, but there are a number of cruise lines that fail in marketing weddings aboard ship and it is difficult to obtain any information about weddings anywhere in their brochures or on their website. Other cruise lines have a good marketing program and even have dedicated wedding coordinators to assist you or work with independent wedding coordinators in making arrangements. These coordinators are specialists who work with the cruise lines in assisting you to plan your perfect wedding onboard and ensure you have a memorable experience that will last a life time. The cruise line wedding coordinators will assist you in designing the ideal wedding package tailored to you needs.

A cruise ships captain can conduct wedding ceremonies at sea, although in practice this is rarely offered and most cruise lines will not allow their captain to officiate in performing a wedding ceremony. The exception to this is Princess Cruises, which have wedding chapels aboard six of their ships and a number of their captains are willing and able to lead the ceremonies. Princess Cruises have a dedicated group of people to assist you with planning your wedding at sea aboard one of their ships.

The most common practice is to have your wedding onboard while alongside at your embarkation port or at a port of call during your cruise.
