Extra Costs Be aware, despite the cruise lines literature proclaiming that everything is included, in most cases you will find that this is strictly not true. Make sure you know what you are paying for and what all the extra cost will be before you book your cruise. Your cruise fare covers the ship as transportation, cabin accommodation, meals, entertainment, social activities on board. Your cruise fare will not typically cover costs such as, alcoholic beverages, laundry, dry cleaning, shore excursions, gratuities, port charges and optional onboard activities such as bingo or casino gambling. As a rule of thumb expect to spend approximately $30.00 to $45.00 per person, per day on extras, plus another $10 to $20.00 per day, per person on gratuities. There are no set rules between cruise lines as to what all the extras will be. There are a number of cruise lines that are all inclusive, mainly the smaller ships where just about everything is included and then there a number of cruise lines that charge for absolutely everything. Ensure that you ask your travel agent about the extra charges before you book your cruise The chart below outlines to the possible extra charges that you may incur during your cruise. Beware that these extra cost will very from cruise line to cruise line and the chart below will provide you with some guidelines. What one cruise line charges for an extra maybe totally different on the next cruise line.
