Stelios Looks at Bringing easyCruise To Miami and The Bahamas
Stelios the serial entrepreneur, easyGroup chairman and founder of easyCruise will be in Miami at the end of this week with a possible view to bringing easyCruise to Miami and the Bahamas. easyCruise is a new and innovative concept in cruising. The main difference between easyCruise and conventional cruise lines is that the easyCruise ship stays in port every night, allowing passengers to choose whether to stay on board or party the night away on shore. As a result of this unprecedented independence offered to passengers, the average age of those sailing with easyCruise is in their 30's, more than 20 years younger than the published industry average. easyCruise launched in the Mediterranean in the summer of 2005 and had a very encouraging first season cruising the French and Italian rivieras. From November 2005 to April 2006 easyCruiseOne is in the Caribbean, cruising Barbados, St Vincent, Martinique, The Grenadines, Grenada and St Lucia and so far during this winter season 50% of the passengers have been US citizens. Upon disembarkation passengers are given a questionnaire and, in the first month of business in the Caribbean, 100% of disembarking passengers have said that they enjoyed the easyCruise experience so much that they would consider cruising with easyCruise again. This flies in the face of the mutual criticism given by both Stelios and Micky Arison, the boss of Carnival, to each other that their businesses are "tacky". The full history of this exchange is chronicled in the new section of easyCruise.comEncouraged by the very positive response from US passengers to easyCruise, the company is now beginning to research the possibilities of offering easyCruise to US passengers out of Miami and the Bahamas. Stelios' visit to Miami is so that he can meet the relevant authorities and operators in the area. "Americans seem to like easyCruise with the youthful independence it brings to the industry," said Stelios the founder of easyCruise. "I think this gives us the opportunity to enter the lion's den and start offering cruises out of Miami and the Bahamas, the cruising centre of the world," he concluded.
