   DINING

      Traditional Dining

Traditional dining usually means that there are two seatings for the dining room, early and late. You will normally be able to choose your sitting when making your reservation and/or final payment or the line may assign you to a particular sitting depending on when you made your reservation. Some ships operate two seatings only for dinner, while other ships operate two seating for all meals.

      Typical meal times are:

        • Breakfast 08:00 or 09:00
        • Lunch 12:15 or 13:30
        • Dinner 18:30 or 20:30

These times may vary and may change especially at a port of call. Consult your daily program for dining hours

      Alternative Dining

A number of cruise lines have added a small alternative dining room to provide passengers with more options for their dinning pleasure. Some of these alternate dining rooms are more formal and intimate, while others are more casual. Usually the alternate dining rooms will specialize in a particular style of cuisine or have a single theme to the dining room while other ships change the alternate dining theme throughout the cruise. Most alternative dining rooms will require a reservation in advance and some may charge a nominal amount. One should consult with the Maitre d’ Hotel for reservations and more information

      Single Seating

Single seating means that the ship will offer, one seating for dinner usually between the hours 19:30 to 21:30. On some cruise lines you will be able to choose who you dine with and at what time within the dining room hours. One night you may choose to dine at table of four while on another night you may choose to dine at larger table. While other cruise lines will assign you a table.

      Open Seating

Simply means that you can sit at any table that is available and with whomever you wish, at what ever time you choose within the dining room hours. Open seating may also be used while a ship is in a port of call and is not scheduled to depart until the dining room is closed.

      Four Seating

Carnival Cruise Lines has introduced four seatings on a number of their ships to accommodate passengers. These times are 17:30, 18:45, 19:30 and 20:45

      Freestyle Dining

Introduced by Norwegian Cruise lines in recent years to provide their passengers with to opportunity to dine in any of the restaurants onboard with whomever you wish, at what ever time you choose within the dining room hours.

      Personal Choice Dining

Introduced by Princess Cruise lines in recently to provide their passengers with to opportunity to dine in a variety of smaller dining rooms onboard with whomever you wish, at what ever time you choose within the dining room hours.
