Cruise West Announces 2007 Americas Itineraries
  
Featuring New Sailings, Ports of Call & Early Booking Savings Cruise West, the
largest American-owned cruise line, has announced 2007 sailings in the Americas
featuring a new itinerary to the islands of New England and ports of call
throughout the Atlantic, as well as savings on early bookings. From the
Caribbean to British Columbia, this small-ship cruise line takes guests on
intimate explorations through lakes and waterways often impassable by the larger
cruise lines. The Atlantic Coast & Great Lakes Itineraries Visit the sites and discover the stories that created America’s history. The following itineraries, nine in all, will be sailed by Cruise West’s Spirit of Nantucket, a 102-guest ship with a shallow draft for exploration. Guests will experience the rugged beauty of coastal Maine, the serenity of the Hudson Valley, the history and elegance of the South Atlantic Coast, the sparkling waters of the Caribbean, and the pristine and scenic beauty of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, all while traversing these waterways and coasts in Cruise West’s up-close, casual and personal style. Cape Cod & the Islands of New England – New Itinerary for 2007 The Spirit of Nantucket will sail for seven nights between New York and Boston and bring guests on a journey through New England’s coastal gems. Along the way, guests will explore the lighthouses and Victorian homes of Greenport, Long Island; Newport, R.I., known for its nautical history, hospitality and stunning mansions; and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. This itinerary will be available four times in June and September 2007, and is priced starting at $2,899 per person, double occupancy. Cradle of Colonial America – New Port of Call This nine-night sailing between Charleston and Alexandria features stops in: Morehead City, N.C., a new port of call for 2007 where guests can follow in the wake of notorious pirates such as Blackbeard and Anne Bonny; Yorktown, Va., with optional excursions to Williamsburg and Jamestown; St. Mary’s City, Md., to explore authentically recreated plantation, inns, and public buildings; and Annapolis, Md., the first peacetime capital of the United States. This itinerary will be available four times in May and November 2007, and is priced starting at $3,499 per person, double occupancy. Historic Chesapeake Bay – New Port of Call This seven-night itinerary between Alexandria and New York City will feature a new stop for the Spirit of Nantucket in Wilmington, Del., where guests will visit the stunning gardens and mansions of Brandywine Valley. Guests will also sail through the Potomac River into the Chesapeake’s rich waters and one of the most complete estuarine systems in the world, and experience the colonial history of St. Michaels, Md. and the Victorian architecture of Cape May, N.J. This itinerary will sail on June 2 and October 27, 2007, and is priced starting at $3,099 per person, double occupancy. Coastal Maine – New Port of Call This seven-night sailing will take guests on an intimate voyage through the natural beauty of coastal Maine, with stops in Portland, Boothbay Harbor, Penobscot Bay and Bar Harbor. Spirit of Nantucket will visit a new port of call, Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada. The Coastal Maine itinerary will sail on June 30 and September 15 2007, and is priced starting at $2,899 per person, double occupancy. Fall Foliage on the Hudson River – New Ports of Call During this seven-night round trip voyage from New York City, guests will experience the breathtaking landscape and enchanting autumn colors that line the Hudson. The Spirit of Nantucket will stop in two new ports of call: Catskill, N.Y., an architectural and artistic gem; and Tarrytown, NY with excursions to Kykuit, the hilltop home to the Rockefeller family, and Sunnyside, the riverside home of Washington Irving. This itinerary will sail four times on September 29 and throughout October 2007, and is priced starting at $2,899 per person, double occupancy. Yachtsman’s Caribbean On this seven-night journey, guests will experience the diverse terrain of the U.S. and British Virgin islands including mountain vistas, lush rainforest and colorful coral reefs ideal for snorkeling. Stops include Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Christmas Cove, Norman Island and St. John. This itinerary will sail ten times in 2007 throughout January, February and December, and is priced starting at $2,699 per person, double occupancy. Antebellum South along the Intracoastal Waterway This seven-night itinerary takes guests on an intimate sailing through the historic and romantic cities of the Old South. The Spirit of Nantucket will journey between Jacksonville and Charleston sailing on the Intracoastal Waterway, home to a spectacular array of wildlife, past sea islands, small harbors and coves. This itinerary will sail five times in April 2007 and is priced starting at $2,699 per person, double occupancy. St. Lawrence Seaway & Thousand Islands On this seven-night journey between Buffalo and Québec City, the Spirit of Nantucket cruises the canals, dams and locks of the Seaway, with visits to Canada’s most cosmopolitan cities – Québec City, Montréal and Toronto. Additional highlights include an exploration of Niagara Falls and cruising through Ontario’s Thousand Islands region, which includes 1,865 glacier-sculpted islands. This itinerary will be available four times throughout July, August and September 2007, and is priced starting at $2,899 per person, double occupancy. French Canada & the Great Lakes The Spirit of Nantucket takes guests on a journey through four of the Great Lakes on a 14-night sailing between Québec City and Chicago. While cruising in Lakes Ontario, Erie, Huron, and Michigan, guests will have the opportunity to visit the beautiful gardens of Windsor, Ontario, the World War II naval production facilities in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and the Welland Canal to Niagara Falls. This itinerary will sale on July 28 and August 11, 2007, and is priced starting at $5,499 per person, double occupancy. Costa Rica & Panama While sailing on
the 100-guest Pacific Explorer, guests will explore the unspoiled land where
villagers carry the same cultures and lifestyle as their ancestors. Guests will
be taken on an intimate voyage through the Panama Canal and along the Pacific
Coast to meet with the Kuna Indians of Panama’s San Blas Islands and observe
wildlife up-close in a Costa Rican jungle. Mexico’s Sea of Cortés More than 140 million years ago, the Baja Peninsula began to move slowly away from the mainland, forming the Sea of Cortés. This wildlife habitat is home to more than 900 species of fish, one-third of the world’s species of whales and dolphins, and thousands of species of marine animals. On the seven-night Whales & Wildlife itinerary sailing round trip from Cabo San Lucas, guests will snorkel with the sea lions in Los Islotes, whale watch in the Sea of Cortés, and enjoy an exclusive fiesta in the capital city of La Paz. This itinerary aboard the Spirit of Yorktown is available throughout January, February and March 2007, with holiday cruises in December 2007, and is priced starting at $2,299 per person, double occupancy. A land tour can be added following the cruise in Copper Canyon. California Wine Country The 138-guest Spirit of Yorktown travels the finest of the wine country, providing an epicurean delight for wine connoisseurs and novices. On the four-night Vintner’s Choice guests will explore the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma, the artists’ town of Sausolito, and choose from optional excursions such as a Cabernet Lovers Limo Tour or hot-air balloon ride over Napa Valley. This itinerary will sail five times in September and October 2007, priced starting at $1,949 per person, double occupancy. Culture of the Vine, a three-night journey, brings guests on wine tours in Napa and Sonoma Valleys, priced starting at $1,299 with four sailings in September and October 2007. Both itineraries travel round trip from San Francisco. Columbia & Snake Rivers The 96-guest Spirit of ’98, 78-guest Spirit of Alaska and 84-guest Spirit of Discovery follow the paths of ancient geologic forces, Native American legends, and intrepid explorers on this seven-night journey through the Columbia & Snake Rivers. As the first and longest running cruise line through the rivers, Cruise West has the most extensive and informative itinerary tracing the history of this part of the United States. The River Voyage of Discovery travels round trip from Portland during spring and fall 2007 sailings, and is priced starting at $2,049 per person, double occupancy. British Columbia Little has changed
in this region of the Pacific Northwest since Captain George Vancouver, the
first European mariner to record his visit, traveled what is now British
Columbia and Washington state in 1791. On the seven-night Pacific Northwest
Coastal Escape itinerary aboard the 102-guest Spirit of Endeavour, guests will
explore the great cities of Seattle, Wash., Vancouver and Victoria, British
Columbia, and travel the remote waterways of the Gulf and San Juan Islands. This
itinerary is available in April, September and October 2007, and is priced
