All
Passengers Were Transported Safely Ashore
To Spend
The Night In A Hotel & Continue
Their
Sightseeing Activities As Planned.
As you may be
aware, our vessel the Empress of the North became stuck on a sandbar yesterday
during her 7 night Columbia River Cruise, which was scheduled to conclude on
Sunday, March 26th.
There were no injuries and all guests were transported safely ashore to spend
the night in a hotel and continue their sightseeing activities as planned.
Efforts are underway to remove the vessel from the sandbar and assess necessary
repairs.
There is some early indication of damage, however, the extent cannot be
confirmed until the vessel is removed from the sandbar and makes her way to the
shipyard for a full inspection.
At this time, it appears the next scheduled cruise departure for Sunday, March
26th will be impacted by this situation. The possibilities range from a delayed
departure of one or more days, resulting in a modified itinerary; or a complete
cancellation of the departure. We expect to have more information regarding this
later in the day.
In the meantime, if you are concerned about continuing with your travels to
Portland due to the uncertainty of the March 26th cruise schedule, we will
assist you in canceling your arrangements and rescheduling or refunding your
cruise.
It is expected that all future scheduled departures, April 2nd and beyond, will
operate as planned.
