Reservations Always plan ahead and book your cruise as early as possible. This will ensure that you will be able to book the ship you have chosen for your cruise vacation and also will insure that you will be able to select a cabin in the category and price range that you have selected. By booking ahead you will also able to take advantage of the early booking discounts that maybe available. Upon making your reservation you should notify or make known any special requests, such as anniversaries, honeymoons or any dining requests that you may have for early or late sitting, smoking or non smoking and table size, if the cruise line does not offer single seating. A number of cruise lines will send you a Passenger Registration Form, to ensure that they have all your personal details, along with any special requests or requirements. When finalising your reservation you should ensure that that you have the appropriate cancellation insurance in place at the time of making your deposit. Cruise lines reserve the right to change or alter the cruise fare in the event of tax increases, fluctuating rate of exchange, fuel surcharges, or other costs that are beyond their control.
Deposits Upon making a reservation you will be required to pay deposit to secure your booking within a set period of time. The Deposit terms vary from cruise line to cruise line and will be approximately 15% to 25% of the total cruise fare and it is generally required within 7 days. For longer cruises (20 days or more) some cruise lines only require deposit of 10% at time of booking and will require a second deposit of an additional 10% 120 days before sailing date. If you are booking your cruise within the balance of payment period or may a late booking, you will be required to pay the full cruise fare at time of booking. Cruise lines publish their Deposit terms and you should fully understand your obligations. Balance of Payment Balance of payment must be received by the cruise line on the specified date and is usually due between 45 and 60 days prior to sailing date. Some cruise lines have recently extended the balance of payment due date to 90 days prior to sailing. All reservations will be subject to cancellation if payment is not received by the due date. If the cruise line does not receive the balance of payment on or before the due date they will cancel your reservation and release your space and sell it to another customer, you may also forfeit your deposit if this happens. The Balance of Payments terms will vary from cruise line to cruise line and are published in their brochures and on the internet. Ensure that you should fully understand your obligations. Port Taxes and Handling Charges Port taxes and handling charges are not included in the cruise fare and are imposed by Governments and or local port authorities. These charges will vary from country to country and port to port and are subject to change at any time prior to sailing. Port taxes and handling charges will form part of final payment and are subject to change and additional collection without notice.
